The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office reported more than 194 calls from May 26 to June 4, including 28 citizen assists, two suicidal incidents, a fire, a trespass notice, 14 livestock problems, five vehicle crashes, 39 urinalyses and 30 vehicle identification number inspections. The SCSO was closed Memorial Day.

Public defender Rachel Weksler, Van Wagoner and deputy county attorney Adrian Kowalski had agreed that Van Wagoner would change his pleas to not guilty or no contest for one delivery charge and one possession charge. Weksler and Kowalski also agreed to make separate sentencing recommendations to 9th District Judge Kate McKay.

Several new charges were filed and sentences imposed in Sublette County Circuit Court from May 22 to May 28, 2023.

The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office reported 146 calls from May 22 to May 28, including a death, nine animal problems, an assault, 21 citizen assists, 14 suspicious incidents, threats, a suicidal person, nine livestock problems, 31 urinalyses and 46 vehicle identification number inspections.

Dees’ sentencing before District Court Judge Kate McKay was set for Thursday, May 25, but his public defender Rachel Weksler noted that the defendant could not complete his pre-sentence investigation before June 1.

Whitman, charged with the brutal beating of Christopher Meeks of Daniel in July, and his new attorney Dave McCarthy had appeared via videoconference for Whitman’s pretrial conference. Judge Kate McKay heard arguments that day from McCarthy and Sublette County Attorney Clayton Melinkovich and moved Whitman’s May 8 jury trial back to July 17.

During two pretrial conferences on Monday, May 22, Sublette County Circuit Court Judge John LaBuda allowed for potential plea agreements.

Several fines were imposed in Sublette County Circuit Court from May 15 to May 21, 2023.

The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office reported 206 calls from May 15 to May 21, including a death, seven animal problems, 16 citizen assists, seven juvenile problems, a runaway juvenile, seven wildlife calls, 14 suspicious incidents, six disputes, two fires, 31 urinalyses and 26 vehicle identification number inspections.

Gavin A. Respini, of Las Vegas, Nevada, was charged with two counts of sexual battery on Aug. 13-14, 2022, after DNA tests from the alleged victim matched ones from Respini, according to Detective Lance Gehlhausen’s affidavit.

He allegedly sold 2 ounces and then 4 ounces of cocaine in April and May 2021 to a confidential informant in Sublette County in recorded buys, according to an affidavit. He was charged with two counts for delivery of cocaine and two for its illegal possession, court records show.

The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office reported 194 calls from May 8 to May 14, including one overdose, a suicidal person, a runaway juvenile, two missing persons, 22 citizen assists, four fires, a theft, 10 suspicious incidents, six motorist assists, 34 urinalyses and 31 vehicle identification inspections.

On May 4, Trefonas filed a motion requesting a new sentencing date, with a family obligation on May 18 and a need for a much longer sentence hearing – four hours.

The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office reported 199 calls from May 1 to May 7, including an assault, a death, one burglary and three thefts, eight livestock problems, three fires, three juvenile problems, 22 citizen assists, six medical emergencies, 16 suspicious incidents, 32 urinalyses and 33 vehicle identification number inspections.

Several charges were filed and sentences imposed in Sublette County Circuit Court from May 1 to May 7, 2023.

Invoices show the state grant covered intensive and emergency care and medical imaging, according to court records. The remaining $18,000 includes monthly reconstructive treatments at the Teton Valley Health Clinic in Jackson beginning in September and a July 10, 2022, invoice from the Sublette County Hospital District. It lists emergency treatments to stabilize Meeks – blood tests, numerous drug injections, CT scans of his head and face, an emergency breathing tube and other trauma-related costs, court records show. Other expenses are an Idaho Falls ambulance and Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

The reluctant owners did not appear at the scheduled closing so the potential hopeful buyers sought “specific performance” in 9th District Court, asking now-retired Judge Marv Tyler to rule that they should be allowed to complete the purchase and take possession of the property.

The latest scam circulating on the social media platform in Sublette County goes like this: A con artist posing as a buyer sends the original poster a private message asking the seller to provide their phone number as proof that they are a real person.

The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office reported 172 calls from April 24 to April 30, including three juvenile problems, at least four crashes, four medical emergencies, 10 animal problems, a fire, 12 suspicious incidents, 14 citizen assists, 30 urinalyses and 26 vehicle identification number inspections.
