After 45 years as a nonprofit organization, the Sublette Center now merges with the Sublette County Hospital District to combine the two organizations and continue to be of service to seniors in our community. This historic merger unites healthcare under one umbrella within the county.
The program provides a $5,000 stipend for a 10-week work experience, which is made possible by funding through the USDA Beginning Farmers and Ranchers grant. Eligible applicants are 18 years or older, identify as ready to begin farming or ranching and have been involved in managing their own farm or ranch enterprise for less than 10 years.
Volunteer firefighters come in all shapes, sizes, ages and genders. Retirees, teachers, industrial workers, business owners, health-care workers, retail sales workers, laborers, administrative professionals, ranchers, students and many other professions are represented on the fire department. We have several members who have retired from their careers and joined the fire department as a means to stay active in the community. We also have several junior firefighter cadets who gain valuable experience and learn about civic responsibility. Everyone has skills that are important and beneficial as a volunteer firefighter.

This annual closure is necessary to protect elk, moose, pronghorn and mule deer from disruptive human activities during the difficult winter months, which can increase the mortality rate for these animals.
“The focus will be clouds, rainbows, aurora borealis, the Milky Way and stars – all interesting things you see in the sky,” he said.
Some of the most “unusual birds” counted around Sublette County historically include the Woodhouse’s scrub jay, varied thrush and Harris’s sparrows.
“Some ordinances are well over 40 years old,” the sheriff said. “Some have been recodified but a lot have not been revised.”
The Sublette County Predator Board’s mission is to protect the public health and livestock ranchers with predator control – ravens, magpies, coyotes, starlings and other property-destructive animals and birds. It also deals with predator zone wolves.
The evening began with teacher Greg Allen, donning a green vest and top hat, introducing Choir I, then soloist Kyle Donaldson. Teacher Justin Smith next conducted the Jazz Band and Allen, the Jazz Choir. Another duo solo spotlight from Travis Donaldson and Rebee Frankus; then the Percussion Ensemble. Choir II, with just male voices singing the solemn “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,” closing with the PHS Concert Band.
Butner is now ranked ninth in world pro rodeo standings for saddle-bronc riding. As his friends note constantly, “He makes it look easy!”
The conversations among both boards’ members began with discussing the possibility of Sublette County leasing or swapping 80 acres at Miley Memorial Field that could enhance parking, delivery, storage and other non-aviation uses at the fairgrounds. The action is subject to FAA approval; the public facility is owned by the Big Piney-Marbleton Airport Board (BPA).

The live and silent auctions constitute the primary fundraiser for the museum and Sublette County Historical Society.
The Private Land Enhancement Program is made possible by Upper Green River Basin Sage-Grouse Local Work Group funds. With the help of the program, qualifying applicants will receive 50 percent reimbursement for the cost of seed up to $2,500.
