Bell plans art exhibit, book signing

SUBLETTE COUNTY – Many of us find viewing the reaches of our western sky as fascinating as looking at our mountains – day or night, always changing.

Pinedale photographer Dave Bell is renowned for capturing the elements of land, water and sky and in his upcoming art exhibit, “Visual Phenomenon,” his focus turns to compositions of the sky, both stark and colorful.

“The focus will be clouds, rainbows, aurora borealis, the Milky Way and stars – all interesting things you see in the sky,” he said.

Bell’s art exhibit of 36 photo prints on metal opens Jan. 8 at the Pinedale Library and hangs through Jan. 27. To kick it off and welcome the public, Bell is hosting an artist’s reception and book-signing on Wednesday, Jan. 10, from 5-8 p.m.

Each print is sized at 18 by 24 inches on a lightweight aluminum sheet, the first time Bell has put together a show completely mounted on metal. He curated them from his collections of thousands of images.

Bell will also be signing and selling his new large-format book, “23 – The Place We Call Home,” with 200 full-color images all taken in Sublette County. Bell encourages people who received one for Christmas to bring it in for his signature.

Everyone is invited to the reception, with Bell serving up snacks and beverages.
