Sublette County Attorney Clayton Melinkovich was elected to represent the Ninth Judicial District as a commissioner of the Wyoming State Bar. In addition to Sublette County, Melinkovich will also represent Teton and Fremont counties during his three-year term.

The first day of school for students in Sublette County School District No. 9 (SCSD9) in Big Piney begins bright and early on Monday, Aug. 28. Youngsters return to the classroom at all Sublette County School District No. 1 (SCSD1) facilities in Pinedale on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

“The Sublette County employee case is an investigation that was conducted by Jackson Hole Police Department and I am conflicted out as I have worked with this individual quite often,” Melinkovich told the Roundup. “As for who the employee is, given that it’s not my department and their alleged conduct may result in further disciplinary action, I’m not at liberty to share that information.”

Sublette County maintenance supervisor Andre Irey said it’s not the first storm to take out trees in Sublette County this summer. Last month the county lost two poplar trees by the Pinedale Fire Hall on South Fremont Avenue, to a severe thunderstorm.

Dr. Eder is “getting my feet wet” at the Pinedale Clinic and will eventually see patients at both the Pinedale and Marbleton-Big Piney clinics. While new to the community, Dr. Eder is already enjoying small-town hospitality.

The acronym STOL stands for short take-off and landing. STOL competitions test a pilot’s ability to take off and land in incredibly tight spaces – the shorter the distance of both the landing and take-off, the better a pilot’s score. STOL competitions originated with bush pilots in the wilderness of Alaska. The ability to land and take off in particularly cramped conditions thousands of miles from the nearest paved runway is a critical skill for backcountry pilots.
