A year ago, three of five Sublette County commissioners approved the $1-million purchase of the Doyle family’s ranch acres to expand the gravel pit permit and install a hot-mix asphalt plant, in the middle of many residences on the south end of Pinedale. The county’s plan to use all 60 acres to excavate, crush and store gravel immediately drew criticism, from neighbors and others who questioned the commissioners’ majority vote by Tom Noble, Sam White and Joel Bousman. Commissioners Doug Vickrey and Dave Stephens – who requested an appraisal that was shot down – voted against the purchase.

Excavators are digging a route along Hennick Street to link the health-care campus’s water-main line to the Town of Pinedale’s pipeline system, said Lueschow. As trenchwork continues, Hennick Street will experience temporary closures with traffic rerouted, he added.

The goal is to write such a good plan – for both Wyoming’s private and public lands – that the Bureau of Land Management will accept it as an option in its upcoming environmental impact statement to protect sage-grouse populations and habitats across the West.

Preliminary plans are underfoot to keep the clinic open for an additional hour – until 6 p.m. – on Mondays and Thursdays, Burnett said. Burnett stressed that the extra hours would not constitute urgent care at this point, but will allow providers to see patients for two more hours each week.

The BPHS trio qualified to compete at Nationals after snagging the state championship in welding fabrication at the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference at Casper College in late April.

Sublette County School District No. 9 (SCSD9) is facing a difficult paradox. Revenue from the 6-mill school levy assessed by the county is up significantly, primarily due to a booming energy sector. Unfortunately, due to state law, the district is unable to retain a majority of that revenue source and SCSD9 is actually tightening the financial belt as it grapples with its lowest enrollment in more than three decades. The SCSD9 Board of Trustees approved an $11,843,968 budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. The overall budget for all funds represents a decrease of approximately $1,040,000 from the 2022-2023 fiscal year budget, said Amy Anschutz, SCSD9 chief financial officer.

“I asked the First Lady why she chose my piece, and she explained her 4-year-old grandson loved superheroes,” said Cooper. “They actually had to hang the piece out of her grandson’s reach so he wouldn’t touch it, which was really heartwarming. Knowing that so many people appreciate my piece made me beyond happy.”

Following extensive discussion, the Main Street Pinedale board decided that while it will continue to host the Rendezvous street dance and vendor fair, the nonprofit will no longer participate in managing the logistics of the parade, Bolgiano said.

Each confirmed their decision to 9th District Court Judge Kate McKay, who turned to Whitman, sitting with his head bowed. She ordered him to be taken into custody without bond and for a pre-sentence investigation report to proceed.

“It is a road map to identify a responsible set of actions that will guide the manner in which all involved make decisions to deal with current and emerging challenges and conflicts,” Game and Fish Director Brian Nesvik wrote. “This plan creates a process and venue to discuss and analyze ways to reduce our reliance on supplemental feeding in places where it is feasible, and in a way that protects the values and objectives feedgrounds achieve today.”

White asked county clerk Carrie Long to put the Crossfire Arena purchase discussion on the Aug. 1 agenda and “we’ll make a decision then if we’re going to pursue it or not.”

The Pinedale Airport Board reviewed the SASO agreement and recommended approval by the town, said Abram Pearce, director of public works. The town council passed a second motion on July 10 to lease a portion of the FBO building, hangar space and parking lot to Emblem to conduct the business outlined above for two years. A third motion passed unanimously permitting the town to lease the temporary Jet-A fuel tanker from Emblem at a monthly rate of $3,000 for two years.

A major “wind event” suddenly swept through the town and its streets, knocking down 37 flagpoles and blowing power lines between Big Piney and Marbleton into a swamp, town employees related at the Marbleton Town Council’s July 18 meeting.

The annual event began in the 1830s with trappers, travelers and Native Americans gathering in the Upper Green River Valley to resupply their rations, barter, trade, swap and sell pelts, furs, guns, jewelry and other wares.

More and more C&D are coming to the Pinedale transfer station with more home remodeling and tear-downs, McGuire said. He and his employee tried to hold those back and customer lines form, with people not driving through the scales and wanting someone to help them unload household materials.

On June 26, about 20 or so people attended an open house hosted by Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) and Wyoming Game and Fish staff at Rendezvous Pointe. Much of Fremont Lake’s landscape falls into BTNF’s Pinedale Ranger District.
