Sublette County’s gas fields continue to be the largest natural gas producers in the state, followed by Sweetwater and Fremont counties.

Applications for the 2023 Wyoming hunting season open through the Game and Fish Department on Jan. 3.

A fatal crash near milepost 95 on US 191 near the Pinedale Airport claimed the life of 67-year-old Wyoming woman Mindy Burns. Two other unnamed individuals were injured in the collision.

“Dan is uniquely qualified and situated to serve as the Circuit Court Judge in the 9th Judicial District,” Gov. Gordon said. “His familiarity with the community and his experience in criminal matters will allow him to quickly come up to judicial speed. He will serve Fremont County well.”

This effort is part of a new statewide Mule Deer Monitoring Program designed to ramp up the Game and Fish Department’s efforts to help Wyoming’s struggling mule deer populations.

To participate, hunters must possess an access permit for the National Elk Refuge in addition to their unfilled 2022 youth elk license. The first 25 National Elk Refuge access permits have already been allocated, but an additional 30 permits can be applied for online this weekend between Friday at 9 a.m. and Sunday at 11:59 p.m. MST. The results of the computerized random drawing for the refuge access permits will be posted on the application website Monday, Nov. 21 at 8 a.m.

In August 2022, staff discovered part of a foot in a shoe floating in the well-known thermal feature and an investigation led by Yellowstone law enforcement officers began. The need for the program is determined annually and is based on the status of the Jackson Elk Herd, including estimated herd size and composition and the number of elk on supplemental feed on the National Elk Refuge. A total of 475 permits are authorized for the 2022 program.

The grant will help the school district an electric-powered clean school bus that will accelerate the transition to zero emissions vehicles and produce cleaner air in and around area schools and communities.

The park annually closes roads at this time of year to prepare them for the winter season and snowmobile and snowcoach travel, which will begin Dec. 15. The last day for visitors to drive most roads will be Monday, Oct. 31.

Both individuals told the BLM that they intended to melt down the cables to extract copper and lead that would then be sold. Following further investigation, the BLM and North Wind Construction Services determined the pair had previously burned wire on the site and it would require extensive cleanup. Wire burning poses numerous risks related to unlawful hazardous waste disposal on public lands.
