Indoor tracksters hit their marks at Mustang Invite

CASPER – The Pinedale High School indoor track team, consisting of athletes from both Pinedale and Big Piney high schools, posted solid performances at the Mustang Invitational hosted by Natrona County High School on February 10.

Eighteen teams gathered in Casper for the event, with a mixture of programs ranging from big 4A schools like Cheyenne Central to smaller squads from Pinedale, Glenrock and Burns-Pine Bluffs.

Pinedale tracksters broke into the top 25 in multiple events at the Mustang Invitational.

Junior Madison Antonino captured seventh place in the girls’ varsity 400-meter run, posting a time of 1 minute, 4.60 seconds. Fellow junior Emma York placed 24th in the event with a time of 1:10.26.

In the girls’ long jump, freshman Bethany Vrska took 12th place, clearing 14 feet, 9 inches with her leap.

Freshman Heather Noble tied for 13th in the girls’ high jump, hitting a mark of 4-04.

Representing Sublette County in the girls’ pole vault, junior Isabelle Rigo tied for 16th place at 7-06.

Senior Anna Lehr came in 17th place in the girls’ triple jump, measuring in at 27-10 ½.

Clocking the 55-meter hurdles in at 10.92 seconds, sophomore Ahbreanna Nunn placed 22nd in the event.

In the boys’ varsity competition, sophomore Decker Normington snagged 13th place in the 400-meters with a sub-1-minute time of 59.43 seconds.

Posting a time of 27 seconds in the 200-meter dash, senior Dalton Fryman picked up 16th in the event.

Senior Michael Casebolt rounded out top-25 highlights with a 20th-place finish in the 800-meters with a time of 2:32.96.

The indoor track team sends a select group of prequalified athletes to compete at the Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho on Feb. 15-17.
