PINEDALE – How long does it take for an image to arise when you read these words – “tiny vacant spaces.”
That’s it – nothing else.
Mystery Print Gallery owner David Klarén invited 15 artists to ponder and then paint, craft or weld to that theme for his current holiday show, Tiny Vacant Spaces, which opened Oct. 23 with many of the artists on hand.
Participating artists are Dan Abernathy, Cristy Anspach, Alise Watson, Holland Dutton, Sue Sommers, Robin Sruoginis, JB Bond, Jenny Dowd, Favian Hernandez, Bronwyn Minton, Rita Mata, Mona Monrose, Jocelyn Slack, Jennifer Hoffman and Camellia El-Antabley.
Vacant spaces – or those once vacant and now filled – take on a wide range of meanings to each artist (although two thought of pockets, albeit very different versions).
Most of the artworks are a smaller scale than a wide-open empty space, just the size to put in a pocket and take home for the holidays.
“Tiny Vacant Spaces” will hang through Dec. 30 at Mystery Print Gallery & Frame, 221 S. Sublette Ave., Pinedale. The gallery is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.
