Mary Kay Mitchell of Boulder, Wyo., passed away at Eastern Idaho Medical Center in Idaho Falls on April 1. 

She was born on Dec. 6, 1931, in Rock Springs, Wyo., to Brandt and Josephine Jensen. 

Her early school years were spent at the bunk house on the family ranch and at the Olsen School House. She later attended Rock Springs High School, from which she graduated in 1948. 

Kay married Henry Mitchell on Aug. 13, 1950 in Pinedale, Wyo. They had one daughter, Dianna, and one son, Tom. 

In September 1959, Kay became the Postmaster at the Boulder Post Office, a position she maintained for 44 years until September 2003. 

After retiring, Kay enjoyed visiting with family and friends, traveling, watching the humming birds and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Kay was preceded in death by her parents Brand and Josephine Jensen, her husband Henry Mitchell and her two brothers James Jensen and Donald (Doc) Jensen.

Kay is survived by her daughter Dianna (Dough) Crawford and her son Tom, and two grandchildren, Amy (Pat) Coen and Ryan (Katie) Crawford.

Also surviving Kay are her four great-grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “Grandma Beege,” Kami Coen, Brendan Coen, Gus Crawford, Ella Crawford and several nieces and nephews.
