Turner finished third out of seventh-graders across the country for her essay, “The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier: You Are Not Alone.” She previously qualified through the state level, being sponsored by the Davey Jackson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is the daughter of Polly and Wayne Turner. She attends Mountain Academy at Teton Science Schools.
Each academic year the Daughters of the American Revolution sponsors essay contests across three age groups. Those essays are judged for historical accuracy, references utilized, adherence to topic, organization of materials, interest, originality, spelling, grammar, punctuation and neatness.
