Leon Letsinger, 75, of Boulder, Wyo., left this world to go fishing with Matt on June 9; he passed peacefully in his sleep.

Robert Leon Letsinger was born in Ava, Mo., July 25, 1946, to parents Emory F. and Goldie J. Letsinger. Leon attended K-12 in Craig, Colo. After school he served his country for six years in the U.S. Army National Guard. He married the love of his life, Annabelle K. Bistodeau, April 12, 1970. Together they had two sons, Michael and Matthew. The boys were his fishing buddies.

Leon worked in the oilfield from the time he was 18 until he retired when he was 62 years old. From the North Slope to the Mexican border, the rigs were many that he worked on!

Leon loved to fish, hunt and snowmachine, but mostly fish! He spent many hours fishing around the state. He fished in Alaska and Canada and around Alamo Lake in Arizona, also Utah.

Leon leaves behind his wife Ann of 52 years, his son Mike, and brothers Bill (Fran) Letsinger of Cibolo, Texas, and Elmer (Debbie) Letsinger of Mansfield, Mo.

Leon is now fishing with his son Matt, who preceded him in death in August of 2021. We know that the fishing is great and goes on with great gusto!

Memorial contributions in Leon’s memory can be made to: Tree Planting in the National Forests. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
