PINEDALE – The Pinedale Glaciers 19U girls’ high school team kicked off the winter sports season with a pair of home games against Cheyenne on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 29-30.
Pinedale and Cheyenne battled to a 3-3 draw on Saturday evening. Sunday’s game remained close with Cheyenne pulling ahead by a single goal to score the win, 6-5.
Saturday
Cheyenne took the lead in the first period, outscoring Pinedale, 2-1. Molly Murphy scored the loan goal for the Glaciers unassisted.
Cheyenne and Pinedale both shot in a goal apiece in the second period. Murphy scored again, assisted by Xochi Holland-Gonzalez and Amelia Gaffney.
Anabella Fausett, assisted by Cassy Miller, scored a goal in the third period while the Glacier defense prevented Cheyenne from scoring.
Kylynn Martin played goalie and tallied 39 saves.
Sunday
Cheyenne dominated the first period with a 3-1 lead. Fausett, assisted by Lexi Harper and Holland-Gonzalez, put Pinedale on the scoreboard with a goal.
The Glaciers turned the tables in the second period, scoring three goals to two by Cheyenne. Fausett hit the puck into the net off plays by Erica Seehafer and Seren Noble. Cassy Miller, assisted by Noble and Moriah Miller, scored next.
Cheyenne shot the puck into the net. Murphy replied with an unassisted goal.
Both teams scored a single goal in the third period, with Murphy making the goal, unassisted, for Pinedale.
Cheyenne managed to hold onto its single-point lead established in the first period for the win.
Martin made 34 saves as goalie.
