CASPER – The Pinedale High School alpine ski team competed in the two-day Buck Studer Invitational hosted by Kelly Walsh High School at Hogadon Basin Ski Area.
Athletes competed in two giant slalom runs on Friday, where the gates are further apart, and two slalom runs on Saturday. The times from both runs determined a skiers’ overall place.
Sophomore Sydney Wise led the Pinedale pack in the girls' varsity giant slalom, clocking in at 1 minute, 20.21 seconds. Junior Allison Gregory placed 18th at 1:22.74, followed by sophomore Aubrey Summers of Farson at 1:29.04.
Junior Katie LaBuda came in 26th place at 1:29.51 with fellow junior Alena Mika in 27th at 1:30.89.
Senior Walker Wyckoff placed 20th in varsity boys' giant slalom, timing in at 1:22.31. Sophomore Sean Ruckman placed 22nd at 1:25.75 with junior Nicholas Boyce in 25th at 1:30.78.
Senior Michael Vitanza placed 26th at 1:31.48. Junior Brayden Bennett of Big Piney took 28th place at 1:35.91.
In Saturday's slalom race, Gregory came in 15th place at 1:55.29. Wise finished in 22nd at 2:03.45, followed by Summers in 24th at 2:09.34 and Mika in 26th at 2:16.16.
Wyckoff took 25th place in the boys' slalom, finishing in at 2:07.07. Ruckman placed 26th at 2:07.13, followed by Vitanza in 27th at 2:09.32 and junior Zach Maxam in 28th at 2:13.50.
