Vast community COVID-19 spread in Sublette

SUBLETTE COUNTY – Over 18 months since initial lockdown and subsequent recovery, Sublette County Public Health confirmed the county experienced one of its worst weeks combating the spread of COVID-19.

In the weekly update released Sept. 17, Public Health confirmed 41 active cases in the county while the Wyoming Department of Health reported 55 new cases from Sept. 10 to 16. Individuals are isolating in Big Piney, Boulder and Pinedale.

Public Health Nurse Manager Janna Lee conducted the weekly video update that went over numbers and testing options. That is available on Public Health’s Facebook page.

The latest Public Health update reiterated that the state’s medical systems are overwhelmed. Finding hospital beds for suitable care has been “extremely difficult.” The report stated some regional hospitals have began to ration care to only the most critical patients. However, people are urged to seek medical help if they are feeling unwell.

Sublette County remains in the high transmission zone, along with the majority of the state.

Public Health recommends testing by calling its Pinedale Clinic (307-367-4133), Marbleton Clinic (307-276-3306) or Altitude Drug. Public Health is also able to stock Valut kits at both of its offices for pick up to easily test for COVID-19.

As of the Sept. 13 vaccination clinic, 2,743 people have been fully vaccinated in Sublette County. That’s bout 27.9 percent of the county population. Public Health has been experiencing about 95 individuals weekly and will once again move to a drive-through format at the Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale, due to popular demand.

Vaccines are still offered at the Marbleton Public Health Office on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. People can sign up at www.sublettewycovid.com/vaccines or by calling Public Health at 307-367-2157.

Public Health is also offering a drive-through clinic for COVID-19 and flu shots next month. Public Health will be at the Sublette County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, Oct. 5, with senior flu shots given 10 a.m. to noon and then all ages flu shots and COVID-19 vaccines administered 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. That same system moves to Pinedale outside the Museum of the Mountain Man on Thursday, Oct. 7, with senior flu shots given from 10 a.m. to noon and then all ages flu shots and COVID-19 shots administered 2 to 6 p.m.
