Students of the Month honored

PINEDALE – The Sublette County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees recognized four Students of the Month on March 11.

Heidi Jones, a first-grade teacher at Pinedale Elementary School, honored Addie Turner as Student of the Month.

“I am so thankful Addie was placed in my class this year,” Jones wrote to the board. “Addie exemplifies the many qualities of an outstanding student and friend.”

Turner demonstrates respect, responsibility, kindness and compassion.

“These qualities make Addie and amazing leader and role model in our school,” Jones explained. “Every morning Addie walks into my classroom with a smile on her face and always brings in such positivity. She is kind, thoughtful and sincerely cares about everyone around her. She speaks to others with respect and understanding.”

Turner rises above expectations on assignments and excels at working in groups, sharing ideas and listening to others with compassion, Jones said. Turner’s work is neat, organized and on time.

“Addie thrives in the classroom because of her perseverance and love for learning,” Jones wrote. “Addie is a wonderful individual and an all-around great student.”

Pinedale Middle School math teacher Brady Schaefer nominated eighth-grader Erica Seehafer as Student of the Month for exhibiting the February trait of setting goals.

“In my opinion, there is no better model student when it comes to setting goals than Erica,” Schaefer wrote. “These goals may not always be written down, but you can tell she always has a plan for what she is going to do next.”

Seehafer thrives in the classroom, particularly with Schaefer’s effort tracker program. The effort trackers help students put in maximum effort and learn to break down broader academic goals into steps, Schaefer explained.

“I have never once seen Erica set a low goal for herself,” Schaefer said. “She is always wanting to be the best she can be.”

Seehafer frequently achieves her goals, approaches math with a strong work ethic and is unafraid to ask questions to understand a concept, Schaefer wrote. He added that Seehafer is dependable and shows up prepared for school assessment tests.

During her eighth-grade year, Seehafer joined the WEB leadership program to help sixth graders set goals and strengthen their math skills, Schaefer said.

“Erica is making a tremendous impact on out student body,” Schaefer wrote. “We are all extremely proud of her at Pinedale Middle School.”

Pinedale High School Principal Brian Brisko presented senior Morgan McCutchan as Student of the Month. A group of students nominated McCutchan for exhibiting courage on a daily basis, Brisko told the board.

“We are super proud of her,” Brisko said. “Morgan has the courage to attack things all the time. Academically, she has the courage to come back every day to try to get an assignment right.”

McCutchan’s work ethic and desire to succeed put the senior on track to graduate this May, Brisko added.

“Morgan is absolutely the strongest person I know,” a student wrote in a letter to the board. “She has been through so much and still gives every person she meets a warm smile and welcoming arms. Not to mention the courage she has when trusting people.”

Jono Majhanovich, an English teacher at Skyline Academy, recognized Peyton Baumen as Student of the Month for showing respect to his peers, staff and the school.

“While such a skill is essential to the success of our school, it is the respect that Peyton shows during actual seat time in class that reveals his more notable strengths,” Majhanovich wrote.

Bauman is consistent, dependable and approaches schoolwork with “systematic regularity,” Majhanovich added.

“Peyton is open to feedback and ensuring that things are done correctly,” Majhanovich explained. “Furthermore, he naturally engages in whatever activity that is placed before him. Peyton effortlessly soaks up (assignments), which not only makes my job easier, but more importantly, helps elevate the engagement of the students in the desks around him.”
