PINEDALE – The Sublette County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees unanimously approved a motion to design and install an outdoor drainage system for groundwater at the Pinedale Aquatic Center.

The new drainage system costs will be included as a change order to the larger parking lot project approved last year by the trustees. The motion allocated $9,000 to Jorgensen Associates and $46,000 to Teletractors to cover engineering and installation costs.

Brain Gray with Jorgensen said that staff at the PAC noticed groundwater collecting and setting on the facility's north side late this summer. The water was pooling by the HVAC system that was being replaced as part of the parking lot project.

Jeryl Fluckiger, district director of operations, told the board that it made sense to build a new drainage system while installing the HVAC components and upgrading the parking lot.

Other board news

• The board passed three policy changes on second reading. The first included Title IX complaints (prohibiting sexual discrimination at schools) in the public concerns and complaints policy. Other changes concerned anonymous information and the timeline in the staff grievances policy. The third was a new policy on health and wellness programs at schools. • In a unanimous motion, the board approved hiring a long-term paraprofessional substitute and Erika Wood as a new basketball coach at Pinedale Middle School.
• The board approved an easement requested by the Upper Green River Cemetery District to run sewer and gas lines to proposed facilities at the cemetery. The easement crosses district property on the east end of the middle school playground.
• The board passed a motion to changes in Pinedale Elementary School's reopening plans. The small change included rearranging a classroom to allow an additional music class to take place.
