O’Hare added, “The last six months are a blur. Time flies when you're having fun. I’m tremendously honored and humbled to lead this talented and hard-working team of professionals who recognize the important role of accurate, quality and timely journalism in a democracy. Winning this major WPA award is great validation for them and the long, thankless hours they dedicate in the name of community journalism.”

Roundup named among the best of the best

WYOMING — For the second consecutive year, the Pinedale Roundup was named among the best of the best publications in the state by the Wyoming Press Association (WPA). Judged on three issues from a predetermined date range set by the WPA (March 25, Aug. 19 and Sept. 16, 2022), the Pinedale Roundup won “Best Small Weekly,” second place, in the General Excellence category, the WPA’s highest award for quality in all aspects of a publication.
The WPA judges remarked, “A great flag and strong page design. Aggressive reporting. Good sports insight. Nice ad count with excellent graphic design. Job well done.”

Cali O’Hare, managing editor for the Pinedale Roundup and Sublette Examiner, attended the WPA’s 124th annual convention in Cheyenne, Jan. 19-21, and accepted the award on behalf of reporters Robert Galbreath and Joy Ufford, graphic designer Sue Bruynes, ad representative Cortney Reed and office administrator Eunice Allgood.

Group publisher Mark Tesoro said of the Roundup’s staff winning General Excellence for the second year in a row, “You guys really deserve it and all of you have my respect, admiration and appreciation for your efforts.”

O’Hare added, “The last six months are a blur. Time flies when you're having fun. I’m tremendously honored and humbled to lead this talented and hard-working team of professionals who recognize the important role of accurate, quality and timely journalism in a democracy. Winning this major WPA award is great validation for them and the long, often thankless hours they dedicate in the name of community journalism.”

During the 124th annual convention, O’Hare attended various forums and keynotes put on by speakers such as Jesse Eisinger, senior editor and reporter at ProPublica; Dan Haley, former editorial page editor and writer for the Denver Post; Bruce Moats, longtime WPA attorney and advocate for citizen access to government, First Amendment, civil rights and employment law; and Tom Hallman, Jr., one of the nation’s premier narrative writers and a senior reporter at The Oregonian, among numerous others.

Also, the Pinedale Roundup and Sublette Examiner websites, https://www.pinedaleroundup.com and https://subletteexaminer.com, received honorable mentions in the WPA’s Pacemaker Awards.
