SUBLETTE COUNTY – The Community Bak Pak Program recently announced it was able to provide nearly 780 backpacks of food to kids during the 2020-21 school year.
The program works with school counselors and staff to deliver kid-friendly food each week to children who may not otherwise have enough food to eat through the weekends.
Volunteers meet weekly to load packs with food and tributes them with help from the Pinedale Community United Church of Christ, which provides storage and shelving space.
Program organizers noted the need for food more than doubled between the past year and previous years. The program was the benefactor of a one-time CARES Act Food Grant that aided in bringing food to those in need.
Donations to the Bak Pak Program can be sent to The Community Bak Pak Program, PO Box 1127, Pinedale WY, 82941. And any questions can be asked by calling 307-749-2522.
