PINEDALE – The Lady Wranglers hit the field to battle Worland on Saturday, April 17. The Lady Warriors entered the match as the No. 2-ranked 3A West team with an undefeated conference record.

Worland held possession of the ball for a majority of the game and used its offensive advantage to score the win, 4-0. The Lady Wrangler defense hit back, however, and thwarted numerous attempts by Worland to up its tally.

Senior Preslie Mecham was back defending Pinedale’s net as goalie and caught 14 saves.

Offensively, the Lady Wranglers managed to strike inside Warrior territory even though the ball did not make it into the net. Junior Olivia Edwards maneuvered the ball down the field to make two shots on goal. Seniors Reese Noble and Rita Mata both played one shot on goal.

Head Coach Shanda Jensen was pleased with the team’s effort against a challenging adversary.

“Varsity and junior varsity played great games,” she said. “The girls are playing and working really hard and getting better every week.”

Following several weeks featuring home games, the Lady Wranglers are on the road this weekend for a doubleheader starting with Cody on Friday, April 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. Pinedale is back on the road Saturday to play Powell at 12 p.m.

Wyopreps updates statistics each Wednesday, and as of April 14, the Lady Wranglers scored a total of nine goals. Edwards led with three goals. Mata, Noble, sophomore Erin Fogerty, senior Sydney Jensen, freshman Anna Lehr and junior Alena Mika each scored one goal.

On defense, senior Alaine Liserio tallied up 35 saves as goalie. Mecham counted 21 saves by April 14, though when her total from the Worland game is counted, the senior also has 35 saves. Junior Cora Murphy subbed in during several matches and caught four saves so far this season.
