Obituary: William ‘Bill’ Penton

William “Bill” Penton of Pearce/Sunsites, Ariz., died at his home on Dec. 27, at the age of 84. He was born in Casper, Wyo., on Oct. 29, 1938, to John Broe Penton and Dorothy Vivian (Visokey) Penton.

Bill served in the United States Navy in the Seabees and was honorably discharged on March 8, 1962.

Bill married Judy Velvick on Sept. 10, 1960, in Jackson, Wyo.

Bill owned his own trucking company in the Pinedale and Lander areas. In the late 1980s, Bill and Judy left Pinedale to live in southern Utah. He worked for 14 years as a mechanic for a large concrete company. In 2001, Bill and Judy moved to southern Arizona to retire and spend

time with nearby family and friends. In his later years, Bill still enjoyed traveling and felt most at home on the open road. In his little gray truck, he would travel across the country from California to Wisconsin to share his time with family.

He will forever be missed by all who knew him. Bill is survived by his children, Bill (Jean Campbell) Penton, Jr. of Mineral Point, Wisc., Tammy Gillespie of Sonora, Calif., Robin

(Ron) Solleveld of Marana, Ariz., and Michael Penton of Colorado Springs,

Colo., grandchildren, Aaron (Karley) Penton, Kristen (Alex) White, Courtney (Johnny) Belcich, Tim Gillespie and Jonathan (Celia) Gillespie and great-grandchildren, Adelyn Penton, Laramie Penton, and Lennon Belcich, and his siblings John B. Penton, Bob Penton, Pat Irvine, and Linda Smith. Preceding him in death were his wife, Judy, his parents, and a sister, Nancy Smith. At his request, no services are planned.
