Obituary: Randal McNinch

Randal E. “Randy” McNinch, 65, of Big Piney, Wyo., died at his home on Nov. 18, 2022. Randy was born Dec. 15, 1956, in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, to Keith and Marilyn (Otto) McNinch. The McNinch family moved from Kentucky to the family ranch in Big Piney in the early 1970s. Randy graduated from Big Piney High School with the class of 1974-‘75. After graduation he attended the University of Wyoming and played in a band and was a member of the Sigma Ki Fraternity. He graduated from UW in 1981 with multiple degrees.
He married Shawna Cowden on June 21, 1986; to this union were born Kelly, Jackson, Kaycee and Hanna. He and Shawna were divorced in 2018.
Randy was a self-employed entrepreneur for over 30 years. He owned and operated multiple businesses with his wife, including the Marbleton Liquor Store, McNinch Land & Livestock, Rio Verde Grill, The Laundry Basket Laundromat, Big Piney Motel, Frontier Co. and Power Clean. Randy loved music and was an incredible guitar player. He loved to travel, the outdoors, sport shooting and firearms, and enjoyed working and managing his businesses.
Randy is survived by his companion, Amy; five children, Kelly, Jack, Kaycee, Hanna and Marylin; grandchildren, Pearl, Ryder Joe and Barrett, and his oldest brother Keith McNinch, Jr. He is preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Marilyn McNinch, brother Roger McNinch and sister, Sally Conroy. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends and his community. Cremation has taken place. A date for a memorial service has yet to be determined.
