SUBLETTE COUNTY – An out-of-state man who lived in Pinedale while employed here was sentenced to supervised probation after pleading no contest to one felony rifle theft charge.
Matthew T. Oliver was charged after detectives searched his rental shared with coworkers and found four hidden rifles and personal items taken from the landlady’s garage. He faced four felony and one misdemeanor theft charges.
In a plea agreement, Oliver agreed to plead to one felony charge and the misdemeanor theft with the others dismissed, if 9th District Judge Marv Tyler accepted the agreement.
Attorneys agreed to recommend three to five years incarceration, suspended, in favor of three years of supervised probation.
On Sept. 2, Judge Tyler sentenced Oliver to three years of supervised probation with other conditions and treatment recommendations as needed, according to court records.
Oliver is also ordered to have no contact with former coworker Brandon Johnson, who was also charged with felony thefts and sentenced earlier.
