ROCK SPRINGS – The postseason is only a few weeks away for Wyoming high school golfers. The Pinedale varsity squad competes at Riverton this weekend before hosting the 3A West Conference Golf Meet on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10-11.

On Aug. 26 and 27, Pinedale golfers entered the Rock Springs Invitational at White Mountain Golf Course. Five boys stood out among a team that consists largely of freshman and first-time golfers to represent Pinedale at Rock Springs.

The Wrangler squad teed off against significantly larger programs at the meet, including Cheyenne East, Cheyenne Central, Riverton and the host school.

Pinedale placed ninth in boys' varsity, scoring 760 and beating Green River and Lyman.

"I'm really happy to see every single kid compete better on the second day," said head coach Luke Myszewski. "We had the best tournament of the season so far in terms of our team score and individual scores."

Big Piney junior Blade Hibbert placed 30th overall, with a 184 after two days. He shot in a 94 on Thursday followed by a 90.

Sophomore Brody Hamby scored a 186 to place 32nd, improving from a 98 on the first day to an 88 the following day.

Fellow sophomore Owen McMillen took 37th place finishing at 193 with a 99 on day one and a 94 on day two.

Sophomore Josh Gosar finished in 41st place with a 197, shooting a 102 the first day and improving to a 95.

Mason Currah, also a sophomore, placed 50th at 223 strokes. He scored a 112 on the first day and 111 the second day.
