PINEDALE – The Pinedale Glaciers 18U high school team traveled to Park County, hitting the ice for its season-opener against the Yellowstone Yeti on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19-20.
Saturday’s game remained close with the Yellowstone Yeti eventually pulling ahead of the Glaciers by two goals to score a 4-2 win. Early Sunday morning, Yellowstone secured a second win, 11-3.
Saturday
The Yellowstone Yeti finished the first period ahead by a single point, 2-1. Waylon Williams shot in the goal for Pinedale, assisted by Mason Currah.
The Yeti scored the lone point in the second period.
The Glaciers rebounded in the third period, and both teams managed to score a point. Griffin Dunn made the goal for Pinedale off an assist by Carson Deleeuw.
Shea Rogge stepped up as the Glaciers’ goalie and tallied 39 saves.
Sunday
The Yellowstone Yeti established a 4-0 lead in the first period. Maintaining its momentum into the second period, Yellowstone shot in four more goals while holding the Glaciers to two points.
Yates Garcilaso-Huffman scored both goals for Pinedale. Kanyon Whitley assisted with the first goal. Garcilaso-Huffman struck again with a short-handed goal off a play by Currah.
In the third period, the Yellowstone Yeti outscored the Glaciers, 3-1. Garcilaso-Huffman shot in a short-handed goal unassisted.
Korvyn Powell played goalie for Pinedale and made 27 saves.
