Karina Cuevas and Alejandro Valdez and their three kids, Ayleen, Alex and Adriel, love planting and caring for flowers at their home on 310 Cole Ave. in Pinedale, much to the enjoyment of neighbors and passersby. Their back yard, with an incredible street view, is lined with many pots of petunias, pansies, violas and other annual favorites. At night, it is all illuminated with solar lights. Their well-cared for lawn features a rock border where many of the flower pots are displayed. Karina and Alejandro work as a team. In the spring, Karina tells Alejandro the colors she loves, and together they choose flowers in those colors, mostly from Wind River Gardens near Pinedale. Then, Alejandro fills the pots with potting mixture, soil and fertilizer and plants the flowers. Alejandro, part of the Cheney Landscaping team, is proud of his landscaping knowledge and skills, and the Sage and Snow Garden Club is very proud to recognize this family with the Garden of Beauty Award for helping to beautify their home and our community.
