PINEDALE – Pinedale High School senior Teagan Bowers signed to compete on the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bees track and field team at a ceremony with family, friends, coaches and administrators on Tuesday, May 18.

St. Ambrose University was founded in 1882 and is located in Davenport, Iowa.

Bowers stated that he will participate in both running and jumping events.

"I'm excited and looking forward to playing at a higher level," he said.

Bowers started his track and field career when he joined the winter indoor team his junior year. The sport seemed to come naturally and Bowers quickly made up for lost time, excelling in both sprinting and jumping.

Bowers received 2021 All-State recognition in indoor track after placing second in the boys' triple jump, measuring in at 42 feet, 7 1/2 inches.

On Feb. 6, at an indoor track state qualifying meet hosted by Gillette, Bowers broke the school record in the triple jump at 43-04 1/4.

Bowers prequalified for state in numerous events in outdoor track this season in preparation for the 2021 State Track and Field Championships in Casper that started on Thursday.

At the Green River Track Meet on April 23, Bowers shattered the Pinedale High School boys' long jump record in place for 11 years. Bowers snapped up first place in the event, clearing 22-08.

During the fall sports season, Bowers represented the Wranglers on the golf team. He played basketball and soccer before switching to track his junior year.

Bowers said he is undecided on a major at this point and has plenty of time, and opportunity, to make the choice.
