JACKSON – The alpine ski season came to a close with two days of action at the 2021 Wyoming State Alpine Ski Meet hosted by Snow King Mountain Resort in Jackson.
Athletes competed in two giant slalom runs on Friday, March 5, and slalom races on Saturday. Results from the slalom race were not available at press time.
Junior Katie LaBuda led the girls’ varsity pack from Pinedale and took 26th place in the giant slalom on Friday, timing in at 2 minutes, 3.50 seconds. Fellow junior Alena Mika placed 27th at 2:08.67, followed by freshman Ana Mika in 31st at 2:16.11 and Aubrey Summers in 32nd at 2:16.37.
Sophomore Sean Ruckman took 18th place in the boys’ varsity giant slalom, clocking in at 1:51.81. Senior Walker Wyckoff placed 20th at 1:52.89 with fellow senior Michael Vitanza in 28th place at 2:08.16.
Junior Brayden Bennett came in 29th place at 2:11.53 with Nicholas Boyce in 30th at 2:15.93.
Junior Cora Murphy entered the girls’ extra race and placed fourth at 2:19.76 on Friday.
