Alpine ski team finishes regular season

CASPER – The Pinedale High School alpine ski team traveled to Hogadon Basin Ski Area on Feb. 25 and 26 for the Britt Farr Memorial Race hosted by Natrona County High School.

The meet was originally scheduled for early February, but extreme cold temperatures on Casper Mountain led organizers to reschedule the event one week before the State Meet.

Giant slalom races took place on Thursday, followed by slalom races on Friday. Results were only available for the GS event at press time.

Sophomore Sydney Wise led girls’ varsity on Thursday, placing 11th in the giant slalom event with a combined time of 1 minute, 15.23 seconds following two runs. Junior Allison Gregory placed 16th at 1:18.55, with junior Alena Mika in 26th place at 1:26.27 and freshman Ana Mika in 28th at 1:32.11.

In boys’ varsity giant slalom, junior Nicholas Boyce led the Pinedale pack, taking 23rd place at 1:31.45. Junior Brayden Bennett came in close behind in 25th place, clocking in at 1:32.30. Senior Michael Vitanza placed 26th at 1:34.05.

Junior Katie LaBuda placed fifth in girls’ junior varsity giant slalom, timing in at 1:26.23. Fellow junior Cora Murphy took 11th place at 1:36.07 and junior Brooklyn Flint finished 16th at 1:51.70.

Junior Zach Maxam placed 18th in boys’ junior varsity giant slalom at 1:32.63.
