SUBLETTE COUNTY – Two out-of-town men charged with stealing rifles from a Pinedale residence last December have jury trials set after each pleaded not guilty in 9th District Court to multiple felonies.
Matthew Oliver, of Tomball, Texas, is charged with four felony thefts and one misdemeanor theft and Brandon Johnson, of Douglas, Wyo., is charged with four felony thefts of firearms from a woman’s home where they lived at the time.
A firearm theft is charged as a felony regardless of its monetary value.
Oliver pleaded not guilty on Jan. 21, appearing via videoconference with attorney Rives White, and his District Court trial is set for May 10. His pretrial conference will be April 9 at 1 p.m.
Johnson, appearing by videoconference with attorney Cole Sherard, pleaded not guilty on Feb. 21. His trial is set for July 19 and his pretrial conference on June 18 at 9 a.m.
Johnson’s attorney filed a motion on March 1 asking to continue the July 19 trial, saying he had planned a trip to Mongolia at the same time. Judge Marv Tyler had not ruled on the motion at press time.
