Wyoming sees the end of first gray wolf season

Hunt Areas 10, 11 and 12 make up the Sublette County parts of the trophy zone. The total quota for this area was 11 wolves; only four were reported killed.

PINEDALE – With the turn of the new year, Wyoming saw the end of its first official gray wolf hunting season.

The season itself has been a controversial topic amongst environmental groups across the U.S. Three lawsuits are pending, challenging the viability of a wolf hunt in Wyoming and the state’s wolf management plan. The predator zone – which makes up approximately 80 percent of the land in the state – has in particular been a topic of

contention.
