Hannah Margaret Snow

Posted: Thursday, Jan 3rd, 2013

Our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Hannah Snow, 96, passed peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 29 at the Sublette Center.

Hannah Pryde was born July 19, 1916 in Reliance. She attended school in Rock Springs, where she graduated in 1934, two weeks after her motherís death. Hannah pursued her motherís vocation, nursing, where she trained for a year before marrying George B. Snow in 1935 in Evanston. Hannah and George had been sweethearts their junior and senior years. She could not continue her nursesí training because, at that time, nurses could not be married.

Hannah and George resided in Rock Springs, where five sons were born: Roy, Ray, Ronnie, Karl and Dennis.

Hannah and George lived for a short time in the Hoback Basin before moving to Pinedale in 1947, where they lived for 53 years. Hannah moved to Jackson in 2000, two years after George died. She lived in the Homestead Apartments. She valued her independence and was very happy in her ďhome.Ē River Rock, in Jackson, became her home for about a year before moving to the Jackson Living Center and then to the Sublette Center in Pinedale.

Hannah worked for Pinedale Power and Light Company from 1957 until she retired in 1981. She loved that job.

Hannah is survived by sons Roy (Peggy) of Pinedale and Dennis (Sandy) of Glendive, Mont.; grandchildren, Terri (Dean) Light, Hank Snow, Julie (Bruce) Marble, Robin (Ron) Lattig, Tammy (Richard) Beverson, Shannon (Duane) Rankine, Wanda (Marty) Helm, Daphne Meyers and Darren Snow; 18 great-grandchildren: Neil and Michele Light, Jeremy, Blake and Kyle Marble, Shawn and Jessica Beaverson, Brooke, Justin and Michael Lattig, Christopher and Tobi Lopez, Alec and Emily Helm, Jacob Meyers, Craig, Alexis and Reece Snow; four great-great grandchildren, Jackson, Jameson , Zane and Kalaeigh Light; daughters-in-law Connie (Ronnie) and Jeanette (Karl); nieces and nephews, Bill (Mary) Sours, Nancy Merritt, MaryLou Schiner, Julian Clark, Royer Clark, Max Korfanta and Garth Korfanta. She also leaves many friends in Pinedale and Jackson.

Hannah is also survived by her sister Darlene (Bob) Penton of Pinedale. Darlene had been an ever-present and tireless caregiver, providing material and spiritual assistance right to the end. Hannahís family cannot thank her enough. God bless you.

She was preceded in death by husband George, sons Ray, Ronnie and Karl; grandsons Neal, Rodney and daughter-in-law Eloise (Ray).

A memorial and celebration of Hannahís life will be held later this summer in Pinedale.
