Robert J. Wilde, 83, of Rock Springs, died Dec. 31.
He was born June 9, 1929, the son of Matthew and Elizabeth Reynolds Wilde. He graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1947 and married Lois Jean Hardin in 1951.
He served in the Army in the Korean War, receiving the Korean Service Medal, two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge and the U.N. Ribbon.
He worked for Auto Parts, City Auto and then Macy’s Truck Repair, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Pinedale VFW Post 4801, the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Disabled American Veterans.
His interests were telling stories to his grandchildren, gambling, the steel guitar, building birdhouses, wishing wells and mailboxes and spending time in Pinedale and Mesa, Ariz. with his wife Lois and his family.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lois Wilde; daughters Vicki (Tom) Howell and Roberta (Bill) Brown; sister Caroline Majhanovich of Lakewood, Colo.; grandchildren Colleen (Don) Martinez, Lindsay (Arturo) Rodriguez, Libby (Lance) Garcia and Jennifer (Keith) Piirto; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Tom and Matt Wilde and sisters Mary Alice Wilde, Margaret Cukale and Ann Engstrom.
