Geneva Toland Hicken

Geneva Toland Hicken, 91, born in Iuka, Kan. passed away on Sept. 11 in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Throughout her 91 years, Geneva lived life with a passion and vibrancy few can imitate. She grew up and attended school in Pratt, Kan., later earning a teaching degree from Kansas State Teacherís College of Emporia in 1942.
She moved to California where she taught school and married Charles Waynick on Nov. 20, 1948. They moved to Denver in 1957 and lived for many years in the Columbine Country Club in Littleton, Colo., where they remained until his death in 1993. She was a committed golfer who served as a committee chair of the 49th PGA Championship in 1967 in Columbine. After marrying Daniel Hicken in 1995, Geneva split her time between Santa Barbara and Pinedale.
She is survived by her sister Gwen, three nephews, their nine children, her husband Dan, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the American Cancer Society in her name.
