Betty Ruth Cantrell (Nelson)

Betty passed away at the Powell Valley Care Center after a brief illness. She was born in Lance Creek on a dry land farm where she spent her childhood. She had four sisters and five brothers, as well as two siblings who died in infancy. She was preceded in death by her husband Herschel, her son Dana Clark Taylor, two sisters; Olga and Laurine, and four brothers; Elmer, Lester, Melvin and Fred. She is survived by her son Russell Taylor of Powell, sisters Romona of New Jersey, Violet of Denver, Colo., and one brother, Linden of Torrington. She is also survived by six grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.

Betty attended stenographer school in Denver before marrying her first husband, Darryl Taylor. They lived in a number of locations in Wyoming and Montana while he worked the oil fields and she worked as secretary, bookkeeper, waitress and cook. Betty remarried Herschel Cantrell in Big Piney, where she lived for many years while Herschel worked the oilrigs. Betty moved to Powell from Big Piney after the death of her second husband. She had been in the care center for the last 16 months following breaking an ankle in her apartment.

Graveside services will be conducted by the family in Big Piney. No flowers are necessary. Donations can be made to the Powell Valley Extended Care Center in Powell in her memory.
