No alcohol involved

Posted: Thursday, Aug 14th, 2014

I had a chance to review the article in last week’s paper, which featured the discussion that Ranae Pape and I had with the commissioners the previous Tuesday regarding TIPS training and the county’s alcohol policies. I am dismayed I came across as blaming the damage at the Ice Arena on mismanagement of alcohol. As I believe I stated then, I did not have knowledge whether alcohol was related to the incident.

Mr. Koppenhafer assures me that their bartender was TIPS trained, the event was catered by the Boulder Bar, designated drivers were provided, appropriate licenses were obtained from the town and a responsible adult kept the beer under close supervision to ensure no one underage had access – all actions I applaud and endorse as an example for anyone hosting an event with alcohol present to follow. If my remarks were interpreted as casting aspersion on the Koppenhafers or the manner in which they conducted their wedding celebration, they have my most sincere apologies.
