I was just writing this letter to the editor and to the fine citizens of Sublette County for allowing their elected officials free reign over their countyís assets. Recently the Powell Police chief bought two 2009 4x4 dodge pick ups for the amazing low price of (get this) $10 per vehicle, these are being used as replacement vehicles for the department, as reported by the Powell Tribune. And apparently this took place last year, also, as it was reported that he acquired a Ford Expedition and another pick up (also reported in the Powell Tribune). Wow, this is four vehicles for $40.
I donít have a problem with any of this except that it sounds like your county or local officials donít have the financial sense that God gave a donkey. Did these vehicles ever get offered up for public auction or bid? Who do you have to know to get deals like that? And who wouldnít want to get a pickup for $10, obviously no one in Sublette County did. The makings of a deal like this raise many questions. I am just glad that I donít have to answer to the citizens of your county. And apparently neither do the ones making sweet deals like that. But I am sure that $40 will go a long way in the county coffers and be put to use serving your county, as you obviously couldnít use any more money, I mean what would they do with it anyway, right? Thanks again.
