As I own property on East Lake Road (Dr. Reinow property), I have had many concerns about the deer feeding in that area. A large majority of the herd beds on our property throughout the winter. It is nothing to have 50 head standing in the driveway in the mornings.
Several years ago, I contacted the Wyoming Game and Fish Department to see if something could be done about the deer feeding in the area and was told nothing could be done, try and contact the county or city.
Feeding deer is killing deer was my argument at that time. No one had any restrictions in place to call attention to the problem. We had the problem of people trespassing on our property in April looking for antlers. I assume this has gone on for years.
Two years ago, two bucks died in our fenced back yard and were not noticed until a bobcat showed up to point them out. As they were mostly buried in the snow we did nothing at that time. On April 2, 2011, someone trespassed through a closed gate into our back yard and cut the racks from the carcasses.
I am glad that the problem is being brought to the public's attention and sincerely hope something can be done to stop the practice of feeding the deer. For the complete article see the 03-15-2013 issue.
