RIVERTON – For the first time since 2010 and for the 11th time in school history, the Pinedale High School varsity boys basketball program is heading to the 3A State Basketball Tournament following a strong showing last weekend at the 3A Regional Tournament in Riverton.

The busy weekend began with a matchup between the No. 2-seed Pinedale and No. 3-seed Lander.

According to head coach Eric Oram, his team came ready to play and it showed out on the court. Through balanced scoring, effort on both ends of the court and a solid execution of the team’s game plan, the coach said things went very well for his team as the Wranglers earned a 66-48 victory.

Senior Zack Winer has been a huge contributor since his return from injury, putting up 16 points, while senior Garrett Lozier added another 16 points for the Wranglers. In addition, sophomore Blake Illoway finished with 15 points, while sophomore Danny Gosar scored seven.

The win moved Pinedale into a semifinal matchup against No. 1-seed Riverton on Friday. The Wranglers struggled in the tough matchup as they had a hard time finding the basket and finding their pace, according to Oram.
