Skiers shred local course at home meet

WHITE PINE The Pinedale High School alpine ski team stayed close to home last weekend, as the team hosted a meet last Friday and Saturday at White Pine Ski Resort. The meet consisted of two days of giant slalom racing, with local skiers seeing a good deal of success among the field of competition.

On Friday, the varsity girls team took second overall, led by senior Isabelle McLoughlin, who finished sixth overall, while senior Taylor Ruckman earned seventh. Senior River Dauwen earned ninth overall, with junior Swedish exchange student Sofia Herjevik taking 16th and senior Claire Stough 17th.

On the varsity boys side, the team as a whole took fourth on Friday and was led by senior Wesley Hathaway who placed 10th. Senior Kirk Anderson had a solid day of racing to pick up a 14th place finish for the team, while freshman Ryan Goodrich placed 21st. Junior Joe Anspach placed 24th in the pair of rounds, while junior Jorell Ballard crashed and did not finish.
