Monte Olsen, 57, former Wyoming state representative, professional skier and longtime resident of Daniel, passed away on April 8 in Jackson.
Monte was born on Aug. 6, 1956, in Cheyenne. He graduated from Cheyenne Central High School and attended Northwest College and the University of Wyoming.
He had a true passion and drive for politics, skiing and golf.
Monte served as the secretary/chair/vice-chair for the Albany County Tourism Board from 1989-1992. He also served as a board member in the Wyoming Travel Industry Coalition and for the Laramie Area Chamber of Commerce. He served as a state representative for House District 22 from 2003-08. Monte strongly advocated for veteransí, ranchersí and farmersí rights. He had more than 25 years of professional skiing and ski instructing experience.
He is survived by his two sons, Reed (Stephanie) Olson and Dane Olsen; three brothers, Tim Olsen, Justin Olsen and Shawn Olsen; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a multitude of friends.
Memorial donations can be made to the Monte Olsen Benefit Fund through the Spokane Teacherís Credit Union by using member No. 315221.
