James Newton “Jim” Osborn, 87, passed away Saturday evening at the Sublette Center in Pinedale. Jim was born July 14, 1926 in Mission, Texas, to James H. and Ione Osborn. He served his country in the U.S. Army overseas in the Philippines and Japan toward the conclusion of WWII. Jim came to Big Piney when he was 26 to work in the oilfield. This is where he met the love of his life, Donna Jones. They were married Aug. 23, 1954, in Kemmerer; to this union were born three children Terry, Casey and Vashti.
Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching football. He was an avid fan of the Big Piney Punchers and attended countless football and basketball games to cheer on the teams. He was firm in his faith in Jesus Christ and was a hard-working man who loved his work in the oil and gas field.
He is survived by his wife Donna Osborn; children Terry (David) Smith, Casey (Susan) Osborn and Vashti (David) Kinnamon; sister Ruth (Dale) Staford; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Elizabeth Hammond, Bill Osborn, Don Osborn and grandson David Aaron Kinnamon. A funeral service will be held Wednesday April 9 at 2 p.m. at Truth Ministries Church in Big Piney.For the complete article see the 04-18-2014 issue.
