Betty Dustin
Elizabeth Jane Smith Dustin passed away on Jan. 27 at her home surrounded by her family. Betty was born in Moose on March 24, 1925 to Ida Anna Maragetha Locker and Samuel Ewalt Smith.

Early in Betty’s life, her father was killed in a sawmill accident. Betty graduated high school from Jackson Hole. After high school, Betty attended college at Saint Mary’s of the Wasatch, where she studied nursing.

After World War II, she married Glen Stilson and they later divorced. They had four children together: Sam, Anne, Warren and Charles. In 1960, Betty married Joel Dustin. Betty readily accepted the gospel into her life. Joel baptized her and her children in 1961. Shortly after, Betty gave birth to Storm. Betty and Joel ran the Daniel Trading Company in Daniel for more than 10 years. They were known best for their quality meat they sold around the world.

Betty had many church callings throughout her life. Betty and Joel served two fulltime missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The first one was in Canada, and the second one was in the Philippines. In 1998, they moved to Vernal, Utah so they could work in the Vernal

Temple.

Betty is survived by her husband of 53 years Joel, children: Sam (Lynda) Stilson of Cedaredge, Colo., Anne Curtis of Twin Falls, Idaho, Warren Stilson of Lancaster, S.C., Charles (Kathy) Stilson of Riverton and Storm Dustin of Rawlins; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one sister Rebecca (Ted) Stroud of New Mexico.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson.
