Almarie Potochnik, 94, of Pinedale, passed away on Oct. 4 at the Sublette Center in Pinedale. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and Pinedale, Mrs. Potochnik passed away peacefully.
She was born in Mountain View, on April 17, 1918, the daughter of the late William C. and Alma Ramsay Megeath.
Mrs. Potochnik attended schools in Rock Springs and Mt. View and graduated from the Mt. View High School with the class of 1936.
She married Cyril Potochnik in Rock Springs in October of 1940, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 2000.
Mrs. Potochnik worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell for 31 years until her retirement.
Her interests included cooking, baking and traveling. Mrs. Potochnik also was a member of bridge clubs and canasta clubs throughout her life. She was active in the Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include four daughters, Cecile Wanner and husband Frank, of Bountiful, Utah, Mary Crosson and husband Jim, of Pinedale, Fran Kolman and husband Al, of Rock Springs, and Bernie Majhanovich and husband Jay, of Pinedale; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cyril, three sisters, Virginia, Abby and Lib, and two brothers, Sam and Bill.
A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Father Peter James officiating. A vigil service with rosary was recited on Sunday. Graveside services and interment were conducted in the Saint Joseph’s Section of the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
