RIVERTON — The Pinedale High School Wrangler Wrestling boysand girlsteams traveled to Riverton for the 2024 Ron Thon Wrestling Tournament on Friday, Jan. 26, and Saturday, Jan. 27.

Lady Wranglers

The varsity girlsteam placed second with a total of 143 points, falling only to Star Valley, 223, and beating out 37 other schools including Sheridan, 125, Cheyenne East, 122, Wind River, 100, Thunder Basin, 98, Kelly Walsh, 88, Evanston, 86.5 and Kemmerer, 86. Three Pinedale girls finished first in their weight classes, including sophomore McKinzie Mortensen in the 100-pound bracket, sophomore Kaylea Mortensen in the 105-pound bracket and senior Katyana Dexter in the 235-pound bracket. Junior Mya Swain secured a fourth-place finish in the 135-pound bracket and scored 18 team points. McKinzie Mortensen scored 32 team points, Kayla Mortensen scored 30 team points and Dexter scored 28 team points.

Wranglers

The varsity boysteam racked up 98.5 points to finish 11th overall out of 41 teams. Junior Ryan Nutt won first place in the 120-pound bracket and scored 30.5 points for his team. Senior Jake Hammer picked up third place in the 138-pound weight class and scored 24.5 team points. Junior Garret Haley finished sixth in the 157-pound bracket and picked up 13 team points.
