PHS alpine ski boys third, girls fifth at Britt Farr

CASPER – The Pinedale High School (PHS) alpine ski team hit the slopes at the Britt Farr Memorial Ski Race hosted by Natrona County High School at Hogadon Ski Area on Feb. 9-10.

Friday featured two slalom races while athletes competed in giant slalom on Saturday.

Both the Wranglers and Lady Wranglers set the bar high on Casper Mountain, with the varsity boys securing third place overall after both days with 60 points. The Lady Wranglers captured fifth place overall, posting 40 points.

Three Wrangler boys broke into the top 10 during Friday’s slalom races, with Pinedale placing second as a team in slalom.

Senior Tristan Robertson led the pack with a seventh-place finish, timing both slalom runs in at 1 minute, 32.18 seconds. Junior Destin Williams came in a close eighth place with a combined time of 1:37.40.

Senior Joe Boylan took ninth place at 1:41.24 with sophomore Dune Mecartney in 22nd place at 2:03.07.

The Lady Wranglers snagged third place in girls’ varsity slalom. Senior Ana Mika set the pace with a 12th-place finish, clocking both runs in at 1:46.80.

Sophomore Eleanor Tolson came in 13th place with an overall time of 1:48.84. Senior Kemmer Clause placed 14th at 1:49.84 with junior Nora Broadhead in 16th at 1:52.53 and freshman Roxanne Melinkovich in 22nd at 1:59.82.

On Saturday, the boys took third place in giant slalom. Boylan broke into the top 10 with an eighth-place finish and a combined time of 1:12.89.

Junior James Tolson earned 11th place with a total time of 1:13.94. Williams placed 14th at 1:14.72 and Mecartney finished 16th at 1:15.73.

The Lady Wranglers secured fourth place in giant slalom. Broadhead finished in the top 10, placing eighth and clocking both runs in at 1:17.89.

Mika picked up 11th place with an overall time of 1:19.01. Tolson placed 14th at 1:19.75 with Clause in 20th at 1:24.25 and Melinkovich in 29th at 1:52.53.
