Funeral services for Betty June Lanning, 79 year old Buffalo resident who passed away at Amie Holt Care Center Tuesday morning, will be held Saturday, June 27, at 2:00 p.m. from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Jarvis officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 1 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow. Donations may be made in Betty’s memory to the Community Resource Center or Life Line in care of the Adams Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.
Betty June Lanning was born on August 8, 1929 in Buffalo, Wyoming to Ellis and Frances Young Schroder. She spent her childhood on the 28 Ranch south of Buffalo and attended the Greub School on Crazy Woman Creek. Betty then attended and graduated from Buffalo High School in 1948. While in high school, she met Ernest Lanning. They were married December 28, 1947 at the Congregational Church. In 1950, they moved to Midwest where Betty worked at the Midwest school, Junction Service, and The Pines Lodge as a cook. She also was a bookkeeper for Junction Service, and most importantly a homemaker. In 1984, they moved back to Buffalo. After Ernest passed away in 1997, Betty continued living in Buffalo until the time of her death.
Betty enjoyed fishing, bowling, bingo, crafts, camping, and especially having coffee with her friends. She greatly enjoyed being known as “Gramma Buffalo” to great grandson Isaac.
She is survived by three sons, Bill Lanning and his wife Ruth of Pinedale, Harry Lanning and his fiancé Kim of Midwest, and Stan Lanning and his wife Gina of Rock Springs; four grandchildren, Shawn Lanning of Laramie, Travis Lanning of Pinedale, Matt of Pinedale, and Chris and his wife Kathy of Big Piney; one great grandchild Isaac Lanning of Big Piney. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and one brother.
