Scary good times ahead in Sublette County

SUBLETTE COUNTY —  There’s no shortage of tricks and treats planned throughout Sublette County in celebration of Halloween. The fun kicked off last weekend with the Halloween Children’s Carnival at the Boulder Community Center and plenty of events are planned elsewhere through Oct. 31. We’ve rounded up the following Halloween festivities in our local communities. Make sure to check out page 20 of the Oct. 26 Pinedale Roundup for Halloween safety tips.

Pinedale

Tonight, Oct. 26, is Thriller Night at the Pinedale Aquatic Center, with haunted costume dances planned for sixth- to eighth-graders from 6 to 8 p.m. and for ninth- through 12th-graders from 9 to 11 p.m. Cost is $10 at the door.

Main Street Pinedale sponsors the Halloween Market with games, treats, prizes and a costume contest on Friday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 6 p.m., in the Lovatt Room at the Pinedale Library.

The Museum of the Mountain Man plans its Halloween Candy Scavenger Hunt from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. Folks are encouraged to drop by the museum in costume. Grab a scavenger hunt card from the front desk, find the candy cards within the museum and bring your completed card to the front to claim your candy bag. Admission is free. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wind River Skate Club invites you to join them on the ice for a Halloween skating party, including candy, costume contests and prizes from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Sublette County Ice Arena. The family event is free and skate rentals are $2 per pair. Donations to the Wind River Skate Club will be accepted.

Rider Property Management is hosting its 6th annual Halloween Bash on Tuesday, Oct. 31, beginning at 3 p.m. in the courtyard behind 23 W. Pine St. Off the Bench food truck will be on site, along with bounce houses, games, tricks, treats and more.

More than 40 local establishments are participating in the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce’s Trick or Treat Street, taking place in Pinedale between 4 and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Traffic on Pine Street will be slowed down to accommodate trick-or-treaters traveling from business to business during daylight hours. For a complete list of participating agencies and businesses, visit https://www.sublettechamber.com/halloween-trick-or-treat-street.

The Pinedale Aquatic Center hosts its fun and free Spook Alley for elementary-aged children as part of the town’s trick or treat event from 4 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 31.

The Sublette Center hosts its 32nd annual Safe Trick or Treat Nite from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at 333 Bridger Ave.

Bondurant

Join the Bondurant Community Club for its annual Trunk or Treat at the Branding Iron on Oct. 27, starting at 6 p.m., for cider, desserts and $5 chili, plus prizes for the best trunk and best youth costumes. The Branding Iron Café is located next to the Bondurant Post Office on Highway 191.

Marbleton

Marbleton is again hosting its annual Jack-O-Lantern Jamboree and Chili and Pumpkin Pie contests on Friday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marbleton Town Hall. This very popular family event is free with lit jack-o-lanterns on the Pumpkin Walk outside, a haunted hallway and sampling the goods to pick winners inside. Big Piney

Also on Friday, Oct. 27, the Big Piney Library invites everyone to make fun Family Ghost Portraits from 4 to 5 p.m.

On Halloween, Oct. 31, Big Piney plans more fun with the Halloween Carnival inside the Big Piney Rec Center and Trunk or Treat outside from 4 to 5 p.m.

Then the frightening Haunted House at the Green River Valley Museum for kids 10 and older (admission) along with a scary movie, photo booth and popcorn while history comes alive to haunt you! Proceeds benefit good causes of the Big Piney High School Choir and the Green River Valley Museum.
