SUBLETTE COUNTY — Sublette County Health is excited to announce that Dr. Doug George has joined the team as the newest provider, bringing his expertise in gynecology and women’s health. He will be seeing patients in Sublette County two days a week, starting April 1.
Growing up in the west desert of Utah gave Dr. George an early appreciation for wide-open spaces and wild places.
He attended St. John’s University and the Chicago Medical School. Amid his work in inner-city hospitals, he was drawn to OB/GYN and performing procedures and providing care that made women’s lives better.
Dr. George noted, “I liked women’s healthcare because I could provide a vital function. I was needed in the community.”
Moving to Salt Lake City allowed him to further his career and build a life with his family, but his love for the mountains ultimately drew him to the Tetons. Over the past two decades, he has been an integral part of the healthcare community in Western Wyoming, gaining the trust and respect of patients and colleagues alike. With the recent closure of his practice in Jackson, Dr. George was ready to move his services to Sublette County.
Dr. George’s journey to Sublette County Health reflects his commitment to providing high-quality care in communities he's passionate about. His experience includes founding the Urogynecology/Pelvic Surgery program at Illinois Masonic Hospital. His service as Associate Director of Gynecology demonstrates his leadership and innovation in women’s health.
When not at work, he enjoys hiking, hunting and skiing. In his own words, “I’m the luckiest man I know and every day that I wake up in the mountains, I know I’m at home.”
He further notes, “I am excited about the plans to form a hospital and know I can be useful in putting a reputable Gynecology/ Women’s Health program into place for Sublette County Health. I look forward to bringing the level of professionalism that people want, so they don’t need to travel to seek health care.”
Dr. George will see patients every Wednesday in Pinedale and will alternate Tuesdays between the Marbleton and Pinedale Clinics. Dr. George will offer gynecology services without obstetrics. Sublette County Health is focused on offering primary care for women. Referrals are not necessary to seek care for women’s health. Potential services could include women’s annual exams, menstrual irregularities, post-menopausal treatment, hormone replacement and more.
The Sublette County Health Foundation was critical in putting this program into place by working with an anonymous donor to fund the creation of a women’s health program for the rural community.
Dr. George’s presence will undoubtedly enhance the healthcare landscape in Sublette County, providing vital services in a much-needed area of medicine.
